Infusing India into Oobhra

Oobhra comes from the Hindi word उभरा (u-bhuh-ra) that can be translated as come forth. Through our work, we want the Indian heritage and culture to emerge as objects of pride that take up the most special place in your home. We see Oobhra pieces not as décor items, but as conversation starters.

We collaborate with Indian artists, who share the same passion for nostalgia and India as us and create exclusive collectibles. If you are an artist who wants to bring alive our local culture and stories, feel free to get in touch with us.

Our Inspiration

Nostalgia comes in many forms. Sometimes as the aroma of piping hot filter coffee, strong yet sweet, that you sipped leisurely, as the clouds floated all around you, at times kissing you, up high on a hill in Coorg.

Or as the relief of unexpectedly cool breeze on a May summer evening, as you sit atop a dune in Sam, Jaisalmer, drawing figures in the sand and laughing with friends, with a taste of sand grains in your mouth, but a heart full of warmth.

And at times as the clean crisp air brushing against your face, while you balance yourself on a jeep moving joltingly, in the dense jungles of Pench, as you follow a trail of pugmarks hoping to spot the pregnant tigress come for her morning stroll to the lake.

Long after you return from your travels, these memories continue to be a part of you, sometimes buried deep and lying dormant — until one of them springs up alive — right in the middle of a conversation with an acquaintance, or during a mundane chore like watering plants.

We at Oobhra want to kindle a special relationship with nostalgia. So that whenever longing hits you, you have a keepsake with you to relive your memorable experience.
